A full Decade of Investment in the Lebanese youth's Powers

PepsiCo, one of the world's largest food and beverage companies, and Ajialouna NGO, a charity organization dedicated to supporting education, health, and social work, held a joint press conference launching Tomooh Saad Abdul-Latif Scholarship Program for the tenth year in a row. This program aimed at empowering the Arab youth to pursue their education, 10th launching conference was held under the auspices of the Minister of Economy and Trade, Dr. Alain Hakim represented by Mr. Elias Hankash, and in the presence of Dr. Lina Al-Dada, the president of Ajialouna and a significant number of dignitaries.

The conference initiated with a documentary that summarizes the accomplishments of Tomooh Saad Abdul-Latif Scholarship Program. Following the documentary, Nada Dimachkieh Koutobi, director of the Tomooh scholarship program at Ajialouna, representing Dr. Lina El-Dada, gave a speech in which she voiced appreciation to have partnered with PepsiCo on Tomooh for the past 10 years. Koutobi stressed the mutual goals between both parties in empowering Lebanese youths and helping them pursue their dreams, underlining "Tomooh Saad Abdul-Latif program provides educational opportunities for the Lebanese youths who are unable to resume their studies due to financial situations".

For his part, Mr Mr. Sufian Al-Salman, Senior HR Director for East Med & Africa Business Unit at PepsiCo, praised the event saying "Today we celebrate the commencement of the 10th year of Tomooh scholarship program, wishing if, Saad Abdul-Latif the founder and forefather of this program, was present with us." Al-Salman continued "By this year, our program has secured scholarships for more than 2,000 bright students from all Lebanese regions. We now have 100s of Tomooh graduates who have benefited from our faith in their right for education and from Tomooh funds to continue with their studies and we are assured that what they deserve from life, due to their bright educated minds, will contribute to the development and growth of our communities."

Finally, the representative of the Dr. Alan Hakim Minister of Economy and Trade, Mr. Elias Hankash gave a speech in which he said: "We hail PepsiCo's unique initiative, and its serious and effective commitment to empower the Lebanese youth through education and knowledge. Social responsibility programs denote real opportunities for outstanding performance for companies that build a sustainable relationship with the Lebanese market."

 Tomooh Saad Abdul-Latif program is one of the several ways in which PepsiCo supports the youths' empowerment through education in Lebanon and the region. In 2006, Tomooh program has initiated as an annual program for scholarships, which started in Lebanon and extended to Egypt and Jordan following its remarkable success.
