MUSCAT -- Under the auspices of Said bin Hamdoon al Harthy, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications for Ports and Maritime Affairs, The Wave, Muscat has signed a long-term marina operator agreement with marina management group Mourjan Marinas IGY. As part of the agreement, the marina will offer lift and fuelling facilities at its Yacht Club to ensure smooth sailing for individual yacht owners. Mourjan Marinas IGY's management will provide every level of support from design through to development support while optimising the marina for operations.
Mourjan Marinas IGY will then fully manage and operate the facility and will oversee all regional and global marketing on behalf of The Wave, Muscat. Michael Lenarduzzi, CEO of The Wave, said Mourjan Marina IGY would play a key role in realising the vision for the project to become one of the region's most sought-after yachting and lifestyle destinations. With the completion of the hard construction of the eastern and western arms of the marina, the first phase of on-water operations is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2011.
Lenarduzzi said The Wave's 400-plus berth harbour recently won the 2010 Bloomberg Arabian Property Award for Best Marina Development in Oman and forms the centrepiece of the entire development encompassing residential, commercial, retail, educational and accommodation developments.
