MUSCAT -- Tanuf and Jabal Akhdar, leading natural mineral water brands in the Sultanate of Oman, made a bold, yet exciting change, with their refreshing new packaging.

The new look took shape last month. Playing on the colours of blue and green, which are traditionally used for freshness, the new look is part of National Mineral Water Company's strategy to add on excitement to its quality brands.

Pankaj Chugh, general manager of NMWC said: "We decided to change the packaging to one that communicates a pure, healthy and contemporary feel to our superior product offering. The aesthetically designed bottles are the outcome of research into customer convenience and ergonomics. The new look was launched in the first week of July, consumers have liked the new look and we are receiving appreciation from across the country. Despite the change in packaging, consumers can be assured that it is still the same, trusted mineral water of the Sultanate."

"We are much more than clean, pure, 100 per cent natural refreshment; we are an attitude and a way of life enjoyed and shared for decades by discerning consumers in Oman and many other countries." Pankaj said.

Even though the company is well-recognised locally, NMWC still wants its products known better nationally. A big step in accomplishing this goal comes from the company's newly designed everyday packaging. The products sold by NMWC are bottled in an integrated, state-of-the-art, fully automatic plant with machinery from some of the world's best equipment suppliers in Europe and USA.

The plant is manned by qualified technicians with adequate academic and work experience in their pertinent fields. Also, a fully equipped in-house laboratory with microbiology, chemical and physical testing facilities, ensures that only world-class products are supplied.

Tanuf is the first Omani brand in mineral water category launched in 1979. El Jabal El Akhdar was launched in 1988. With over 40 per cent market share, NMWC has been able to retain "market leadership" in the category it represents owing to superior consistent quality.

NMWC is a major player in bottled mineral water business in lower Gulf area. It regularly exports to neighbouring countries including the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Pakistan. Occasionally, its products are also exported to other countries.

Set up in 1978 with technical expertise from Evian, France world leaders in the field of natural mineral water, NMWC is a totally Omani owned Public Limited Company incorporated in Oman with its shares listed and traded in the Muscat Stock Exchange (MSM).

NMWC has exclusive lease for extracting water from wells located near the Jabal Akhdar mountain range, situated deep inside Oman. This mountain range, with peaks as high as 2000 metres, lies in a sparsely populated belt with green vegetation. The products manufactured by NMWC conform to international and Gulf standards and are approved by appropriate government agencies in all Gulf markets. All products conform to WHO, EC and Japanese standards.
