MUSCAT -- A five-day exhibition highlighting the outcome of the Muscat Youth Summit 2011 was officially opened at BankMuscat's head office in Seeb yesterday. In the presence of His Highness Sayyid Faisal bin Turki al Said, Chief Operating Officer, Brand Oman Management Unit (BOMU) and organiser of the annual Muscat Youth Summit (MYS), AbdulRazak Ali Issa, Chief Executive of BankMuscat, inaugurated the exhibition.
Issa said, "BankMuscat is proud to host the Muscat Youth Summit exhibition, which spotlights the vision of youth in tackling issues faced by the world. BankMuscat understands the importance of youth in shaping the future of Oman and is delighted to showcase their collaborative efforts with youth from around the world.
The exhibition provides insight into tapping the skills and talents of youth to benefit all."
HH Sayyid Faisal said, "We are thankful to BankMuscat for hosting this exhibition which reflects the bank's commitment to the youth of Oman and their global counterparts. MYS sees youth as a national resource, key partners in the development process and their active participation in solving problems could have a profound impact on our social and economic progress."
The exhibition highlights the outlook of youth on their world shaped by technology and social networks. MYS 2011 attracted 240 student participants from across Oman and over 20 countries. They attended 18 workshops on social entrepreneurship, urban development, social media, art and culture.
MYS 2011 provided 15- 24-year-olds with an extraordinary opportunity to interact with entrepreneurs, artists, broadcasters, architects, academics, journalists, photographers, social media specialists and leading business people. The summit placed a stronger emphasis on art, culture and media -- all of which are on show at the exhibition. The MYS exhibition is open daily 8 am to 8 pm at BankMuscat head office and ends on Thursday, May 24.
