Six cities in the Middle East and North Africa: Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Dubai, Doha, King Abdullah City, Kuwait City and Tunis have been shortlisted for the Smart City 2015 Award at TMT MENA 2015.  www.tmtfinance.com/mena/

The winner will be selected by a Judges Panel comprising leading figures in telecom, media, technology, finance and advisory from companies including Citi, PwC, Dentons and Analysys Mason and will be presented at the TMT MENA 2015 Awards Dinner at Madinat Jumeirah on April 22.

Other awards will be presented for: TMT Deal of the Year, Operator of the Year, TMT Innovation Award and TMT CEO of the Year, for the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region.

TMT MENA 2015, the annual conference and Awards Dinner produced by international publishing group TMT Finance, brings together key leadership from the region's leading telecom, tech, Government, finance and advisory institutions to assess investment strategies. Smart City investment has been identified as the key theme for telecom companies at this year's event.

"Smart city projects across the world have typically been pushed, top down, by government planners, engineers and technologists. But social dynamics, psychology, anthropology and other aspects of the 'social life' of cities need to be considered to ensure a full return on investment," said Simon Torrance, Senior Advisor on the Digital Economy at Analysys Mason, who will be making a stimulus presentation at the event.

Torrance's keynote will describe the latest best practice from across the world and suggest new opportunities for telcos to take a lead in enabling vibrant socio-economic ecosystems that deliver full value to all stakeholders.

The Keynote Speech is titled "Latest trends and Best Practice in Smart Cities worldwide" and will discuss:

•             How to make Smart City projects smarter

•             Latest developments to learn from worldwide

•             How telcos can add greatest value, beyond connectivity

Over 30 speakers and have been announced for the conference which features a series of high impact panel debates, keynote presentations and break our Peer to Peer Round Table debates.
