Dubai: 27 April, 2010 - Dubai Industrial City, the dedicated light and medium manufacturing destination and a member of TECOM Investments, today announced the operation of the second and third 132 kVA substations by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).
The two substations, which DEWA began construction work on 18 months ago, fulfils energy demand from the growing industrial and manufacturing units located in its six specialized zones.
Construction work is also progressing on the fourth substation that is expected to be operational by the second quarter of 2010.
His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of DEWA, said: "The increasing demand by manufacturing companies has necessitated the building of four power substations in Dubai Industrial City. DEWA is working closely with the management of Dubai Industrial City in line with an MoU signed earlier with DEWA to ensure the availability of adequate capacity for handling the surge in energy requirements.
"We expect the fourth 132 kVA to be completed at the industrial destination in the next few months for the benefit of our consumers."
Abdullah Belhoul, Managing Director of Manufacturing and Logistics Cluster said: "The supply of the second and third substations reflects DEWA's profound commitment towards facilitating Dubai Industrial City's operations and catering to the steadily increasing number of investors at the destination.
"The four substations form an integral part of the overall strategic plans of Dubai Industrial City and will adequately meet the rising power supply requirements within the country's largest manufacturing destination."
