DUBAI (Zawya Dow Jones)--Ras Al Khaimah International Airport said Tuesday it had appointed two senior executives with previous work experience at U.K. airports as it seeks to expand local operations and services this year.
RAK International, in an emailed statement, said it had appointed Andrew Gower as airport director and Mohammed Qazi as commercial director.
Gower joins the operation from Liverpool's John Lennon Airport in the U.K., which handles 5.5 million passengers annually, RAK International said. Qazi joins the operation from ground handling business Swissport at London's Stansted Airport, according to the statement.
"Ras Al Khaimah is fast becoming a destination in its own right and is gearing up for a surge in tourist numbers over the next 12 months. RAK International Airport will play a key role in supporting this growth," Gower said.
The emirate of Ras Al Khaimah is located in the U.A.E.'s north, about 100 kilometers from Dubai.
