Zain Bahrain has launched its 'Back-to-School' charity project to distribute more than 20,000 schoolbags to deserving school students in time for new academic year.

The initiative is being organised under the patronage of President of the Council of Trustees of the Royal Charity Organisation Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

Students from all the five governorates will benefit from the project.

During a ceremony held in Muharraq to mark the launch of the project, Zain Bahrain's Chairman Shaikh Ahmed bin Ali Al Khalifa, stated: "We are honoured and inspired by the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa to this project. His support lends depth to a key component of our Corporate Social Responsibility Programme - the empowering of youth through education."

"We are sure that His Highness Shaikh Nasser's patronage will encourage youngsters associated with the project to do their best academically and utilise their talents to serve the Kingdom."

The Back-to-School project is one of the very first community projects adopted by Zain Bahrain and since 2004 over 250,000 deserving scholars have benefited from the telecoms giant's commitment to the project. Zain Bahrain's General Manager Mohammed Zainalabedin, added: "The programme has been an important part of our CSR initiatives for seven years now and underscores our belief in the power of education to change lives. We are delighted that His Highness Shaikh Nasser has taken such close interest in the project."

"We at Zain Bahrain are pleased with and proud of the growth of the education sector in the Kingdom. We continuously search for ways to support the government's efforts to develop the education sector and our youth's abilities. Since its inception in 2003, Zain Bahrain has been supporting youth development, educational and social initiatives and will always contribute to the nation's ongoing attempts to strengthen the country's position amongst leading nations."

Zain Bahrain has been working closely with more than 200 local welfare associations and charity funds to compile the list of students that will benefit most from the School Bag Distribution programme. This is the seventh consecutive year that the project has been organised by Zain Bahrain. Zain Bahrain's Corporate Communications Manager Samya Hussain explained that since its inception Zain Bahrain has focused on youth development, education, and individuals and children with special needs.

"I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all our students and assure them that at Zain Bahrain, our corporate social responsibility entails us to support the educational system and work in partnership with them to ensure our messages come across to today's youth. We are keen on serving the local community by cooperating and coordinating with various governmental and non-governmental organisations to help  create the right atmosphere and proper tools our youth need to achieve their goals."
