Olivier Badard will join RATP Dev on 1 September 2015. He will work out of Dubai and serve on the executive committee. Cyril Carniel, whom Olivier Badard succeeds, will continue to work with RATP Dev as a consultant.

Olivier Badard, 48, is a graduate of Montpellier ESC business school and holds an MBA from San Francisco University. He has over 20 years' experience in large French corporations, in the USA and Gulf region.

Olivier Badard began his career in sales management and business development positions in Alcatel, in the USA. He joined the Thales group in 2006 as marketing and sales director. After serving as president for Thales Middle East & Western India between 2008 and 2012, Olivier Badard spent three years as an independent advisor to the United Arab Emirates on complex projects in defence, security, space and transport. Olivier Badard can call on extensive knowledge of operators in the Gulf region (Saudi Arabia, U.A.E., Qatar and Oman) and in India.

In the Middle East, RATP Dev and local partner SAPTCO won a contract in November 2014 to implement, operate and maintain the first ever bus network in Riyadh, a large project that the Saudi authorities want to be seen as a benchmark worldwide. RATP Dev also signed a partnership in June with Lakhraim Business Group to set up a joint venture targeting the leading transport projects in the United Arab Emirates (bus networks in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain; Doha metro system).

RATP Dev is present in Asia through a joint venture with Transdev. Among its achievements are the commissioning in 2014 of the first metro line in Mumbai and a renewed contract with Seoul to operate and maintain the city's Line 9 metro until 2023. In China, it operates the historic tramway service in Hong Kong (30 km and 118 stops), which it is also modernising, along with the Nanjing bus network. In the Philippines, RATP Dev is involved in operating and maintaining the Manila Line 1 metro service. RATP Dev aims to double its operations in Asia in the next five years.

RATP Dev has over 6,000 employees working in the Asia - Middle East region.
