Muscat: The Environment Society of Oman and Nama Group (Formerly known as Electricity Holding Group) have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish an office for the society in the Governorate of Dhofar, as well as funding a project to enhance the forestation in the region. The MOU was signed by Eng. Omar Al Wahaibi, The CEO of Nama Group, and HH. Sayyida Tania Al Said, President of the Environment Society of Oman, and is worth OMR 45,900.

The Agreement is one of many projects Nama Group has planned as part of  its Sustainability strategy, which aims to enhance the development of cultural, economic and environmental aspects in the Sultanate.

Eng. Omar Al Wahaibi stated that "At Nama Group, we support programs and organizations that contribute to the environment, which we believe is a shared responsibility of everyone to preserve and protect. Our partnership today with the Environment Society of Oman is a reinforcement of our Sustainability value and through this agreement we aim to take a step forward in preserving the environment in Dhofar Governorate"

HH. Sayyida Tania Al Said also commented saying: "We are very enthusiastic about this partnership with Nama Group, which showcases the group's dedication to preserving the environment and doing their part in the shared responsibility to preserve Oman and its environment"

The new branch of the Environment Society of Oman in Dhofar Governorate will be the basis for many sustainable environmental and educational programs for the different people of the region, the new office will also provide employment opportunities for Omanis as well as training them in volunteerism and environmental protection.
