Abu Dhabi, Feb 01st, 2012 (WAM)--Under patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, President of the Board of Trustees of Abu Dhabi University, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Vice President of the Board of Trustees of Abu Dhabi University, attended on Tuesday evening, the graduation of first batch of students of the Joint Command Staff College.

Held at the ADU campus, 90 students of the Bachelor of Science in Management and Leadership were graduated. The programme is provided by ADU in conjunction with the Joint Command Staff College.

Present were Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Staff Major General Eisa Saif Mohammed Al Mazrouei, the Deputy Chief of Staff of UAE Armed Forces, Staff Pilot Major General Rashad Mohammed Al Saadi, Commander of Joint Command Staff College, Ali Saeed bin Harmel Al Dhahiri, Chairman of the ADU Executive Board, Dr Nabil Ibrahim, Chancellor of ADU, a number of senior Army officers, administrative and teaching staff.

Sheikh Nahyan welcomed in his speech the graduates of Bachelor of Science in Management and Leadership, saying "the programme is a good fruit of scientific cooperation between ADU and the General Headquarters of UAE Armed Forces".

He congratulated President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his keenness on upgrading the level and efficiency of the higher education institutions nationwide.

Sheikh Nahyan underlined that the study programme comes in line with the vision of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to prepare Emirati youth to tackle contemporary challenges.

He also thanked Sheikh Hamdan for his pioneer role in setting up ADU and continuous efforts to make it successful.

Sheikh Nahyan appreciated the efforts of the administrative and teaching staff in preparation of the graduates to become role models of a national university, indicating that "by their graduation, ADU has set clear standards for quality and excellence."For his part, Staff Pilot Major General Rashad, congratulated the UAE leadership and graduates for the achievement, which he said would be an addition to the Armed Forces.

Al Dhahiri said, "the programme is a fruit of joint pioneer national initiative between ADU and Joint Command Staff College", adding that the move translates the objectives of ADU as a national university that provides world class training, research and community service programmes.
