Dubai - The Ministry of Finance (MoF) recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Emirates Post Group (EPG) for customers to easily charge and recharge their e-Dirham cards. The e-Dirham cards are provided across all 115 Emirates Post Group branches within the UAE.

The MoU was signed at MoF's premises in Dubai by HE Saeed Rashid Al Yateem, Assistant Undersecretary of Resources and Budget Sector at MoF, HE Ibrahim bin Karam, CEO of Emirates Post and HE Saif Al Shehhi, Senior Managing Director, UAE Government and VVIP Clients, National Bank of Abu Dhabi.

Commenting on the MoU, HE Saeed Rashid Al Yateem stressed the Ministry's commitment to develop its strategic partnership with various entities across the UAE to expand the e-Dirham system network. This falls in line with the Ministry's strategy to provide different options and outlets for customers to charge and recharge their e-Dirham cards as well as expanding electronic payment and collection methods.

HE Al Yateem said: "The agreement allowed Emirates Post to start selling, charging and re-charging e-Dirham system cards, which is a new added value to the system. EPG enjoys a local and global geographical expansion policy and adopts electronic systemsthat can enhance the progress of the e-Dirham system as a national project aimed at raising the efficiency of e- services as well as reduce operational costs."

HE Ibrahim bin Karam, CEO of Emirates Post pointed out that EPG, through its strategic vision, is keen to achieve excellence and creativity in its services on a local and global level by adopting the latest administrative and technical systems. The Group also works on providing the best follow up methods for customers. EPG provides smart post services through mobile apps and online services; which has witnessed a large popularity with 1.2 million visitors per months and a 94% satisfactory rate.

HE added that EPG's adoption ofthe e-dirham system contributes to enhancing electronic post and non-post services as well as developing the payment methods of government services fees.

HE Saif Al Shehhi, Senior Managing Director, UAE Government and VVIP Clients, National Bank of Abu Dhabisaid: "This agreement falls in line with the Government's efforts to implement the principles of smart government and provide quality facilities to upgrade the operations of e-government services. Emirates Post Group provides services with the highest international standards and our adoption of the e-Dirham system will only ensure successful continuity and expansion."

MoF and NBAD recently signed an agreement with Dubai Trade to adopt the second generation of e-Dirham system to collect service fees. The agreement will allow Dubai Trade to transition from only using traditional fee collection systems for different services to also applying more advanced, smart methods.
