As part of its participation in GITEX technology week 2015

Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Finance (MoF) announced, today, its participation in the 35th GITEX technology week 2015, which will be held at Dubai World Trade Centre from 18-22 October. MoF will be showcasing its new smart services related to its e-Dirham system.

During GITEX, MoF will launch its e-Dirham phone app that is suitable and safe for androids and IOS phones. The app offers interface solutions which makes it easier for users to work with. MoF will also present the e-wallet, which allows e-Dirham users to perform a payment without presenting a card during each payment, and gives users more privacy and security with information shared.

MoF will also launch: e-vouchers, pre-paid receipts as an alternative to the 'Haslah' plastic cards, self-service e-kiosks for transactions in its new form that allows users to purchase and recharge e-Dirham cards, pay for services fees, receiving e-vouchers as an alternative to plastic cards, in addition to several other self-services.

HE Younis Haji Al Khoori, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance (MoF) stated that e-Dirham continues to affirm its importance in the rationalisation of the consumption of government financial resources, faster payment settlement by shifting towards a no-cash payment system to save costs, effort and time. HE added: "The e-Dirham system, became a gateway for safe and smart payments, and falls in line with the UAE's directives to shift to a smart government. The system offers a wide range of payment methods which support achieving a sustainable and balanced development leading to deliver better services in the country.

HE Al Younis confirmed e-Dirham system facilitates payment and collection operations for companies and institutions, provides them with smart applications and solutions to audit and monitor transactions to enable companies and institutions to develop their businesses, save time, effort and human resources to better serve customers.

HE Al Khoori mentioned the e-Dirham team continues to develop its systems and offer more services to meet customers need. This makes it the first payment method for government and semi-government services and a preferred means of payments for other services.

HE Saeed Rashid Al Yateem, Assistant Undersecretary of Resources and Budget Sector at MoF, expressed confidence in the success of the e-Dirham system, which relies on smart technologies in areas of e-collection to achieve the goals and objectives set. In fact, more than 80 million electronic services for the federal government were done were done through the e-Dirham system since 2011, while the value of fees collected electronically surpassed AED 17 billion.

HE Al Yateem added that the e-Dirham is characterised by low costs compared to other payment methods, whereby it charges small and fixed amounts in return for fee payments, cards recharge and other services. It also features a high level of security to ensure safety in all customer operations.

Saif Al Shehhi, Senior Managing Director - UAE Government & VVIP Clients of the National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), highlighted the creation of two e-payment methods via internet, POS devices and mobile phones as per the highest international security standards; while benefiting from NBAD experts on e-payments to ensure users safety in payment operations.

The e-Dirham also includes payment and collection channels through ATMs and the system's cash deposit machines, POS and e-collections that rely on the latest payment technologies after online payments, and e-payment methods through mobile phones and e-dirham self-service booths.

The e-Dirham mobile app provides registered users with a list of features that allows them to issue their own e-wallet credentials inquire about the e-wallet's balance, issue a mini account statement showing transactions by the e-Dirham card, and transfer credit between e-wallet and e-Dirham card. The app also offers several support services such as listing locations for e-Dirham services, developing reports, acquiring data and downloading content from the e-Dirham website.

The e-wallet is a virtual wallet that is connected to different financing sources to allow e-Dirham users to make payments without the need to present the card on every purchase.

The e-wallet payment process only requires a username and password without the need to provide card holder's personal details to any service provider, which allows for more privacy.

The e-Dirham vouchers are pre-paid receipts suitable to all payment channels by the e-Dirham system. The e-voucher amount is automatically transferred to the service provider's account. This method can be considered as an alternative for pre-paid e-Dirham cards.

The self-services e-kiosks allows users to buy specific pre-paid e-Dirham cards and recharge them, along with the possibility to pay public service fees, obtain e-Dirham cards, inquire about the card's balance, receive details on transactions and many other self-services.
