Kingdom gives green light to bid for security, safety and fire protection projects in sensitive industries such as petroleum, communication, water and electricity generation

Riyadh - Honeywell (NYSE:HON) has been officially certifiedby Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Interior to execute Industrial Security and Critical Infrastructure Projects(CIP) in the Kingdom. In addition, the firm will be listed as a global supplier to design, engineer and implement Integrated Industrial Security projects in Saudi Arabia.

The accreditation, which was granted by the Ministry of Interior's (MOI) Central Licensing Unit (CLU), will see Honeywell work closely on security, safety and fire protection projects insensitive sectors related to petroleum and petrochemicals,water and electricity, industrial services and communications.

Saudi Arabia is today the largest projectmarket in the Middle East with US$61 billion worth of contracts awarded over the past few years, and a further US$1trillion worth of projects planned.

In 2010, the High Commission for Industrial Security Directives (HCIS) in conjunction with the Ministry of Interior standardized protocols forindustrial security installations within the Kingdom. Their objective was to ensure proper risk mitigation and to pre-qualify companies who demonstrate the necessary skills, technologies and capabilities to implement complex integrated security systems for oil and gas, petrochemical andpower plants as outlined by HCIS.

In order to qualify to bid, win or execute any Industrial Security or CIP Project, contractors must be listed by the Central Licensing Unit (CLU) as an approved company. The CLU controls and monitors approved Industrial Security vendors prior to them signing contracts for work in the above mentioned sectors.
