HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), received at his office Arun Kumar, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Markets and Director General, Matthew Murray, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Europe and Eurasia at the U.S. Department of Commerce, HE Robert Waller, US Consul General to Dubai, Jim Cramer, Desk Officer at the Office of the Middle East and North Africa in D.C, Anthony Henderson, Special Advisor to Arun Kumar, and Nasir Abbasi, Commercial Attaché, U.S. Consulate, Dubai. These are part of a series of visits by diplomatic and consular missions to DEWA.

The meeting was attended by Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Development, Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources, and Ahmed Abdullah, Senior Manager for External Communications.

Al Tayer welcomed the delegation and explained DEWA's activities, strategy, projects and initiatives led by the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Al Tayer also presented an overview of DEWA's major projects including the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the Hassyan clean coal project, smart grids, and DEWA's three Smart initiatives. He underlined that these strategic initiatives are being implemented by DEWA in line with the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 to diversify energy sources and reduce demand by adopting best practices in conservation and preservation of resources. Al Tayer also talked about the various initiatives that underline DEWA's commitment to achieving the objectives of the UAE Vision 2021 and Dubai Plan 2021 to define Dubai as a global hub for business, finance, tourism and green economy.

The US delegation expressed their interest in participating in projects, especially in clean energy, and to exchange experience, information and technologies that contribute to the sustainable growth of Dubai.

The US delegation thanked Al Tayer for the opportunity to explore joint cooperation and to promote bilateral relations.
