(With photos) MOSCOW, May 16 (KUNA) -- A Kuwait National Assembly delegation to the fourth international trade and financing forum, due in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan Republic, southern Russia, arrived here on Wednesday en route to the event's venue.
The delegation, led by undersecretary of the legislative branch of the parliament MP Ammar Al-Ajmi, includes MPs Dr. Hamad Al-Matar and Tawfiq Al-Wahib as well as Talal Al-Heban, an academic; they were received by Third Secretary of Kuwait Embassy in Moscow Ibrahim Al-Arfaj.
Speaking to KUNA, Al-Ajmi said that the forum, due in between May 17-18, will discuss the strategy to enhance cooperation among Muslim countries in the areas of mutual investments and trade exchanges.
"The conferees are scheduled to discuss the joint efforts by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Russian Federation in creating investment-friendly atmosphere and modernizing the Islamic banking system," he revealed.
"They will also discuss the efforts to promote human development, the roles of the central banks in promoting the Islamic Sharia-compliant financing tools, and the roles of Zakat (alms) houses and Awqaf (endowments) in socio-economic development," he added.
Al-Ajmi also noted that Tatarstan is rich in natural resources and investment potentials, and that the region plays a key role in the Russian economy, being home to some four million Muslims.
