KIRKUK - Kirkuk will demand Iraqi Kurdistan region supply the province with electricity for the coming 15 years, an official said.
Speaking to AKnews, Jamal Mawlud, a member of the Oil and Energy Committee at Kirkuk Provincial Council, said that in the near future Najmaddin Kareem, Kirkuk governor, will discuss with Kurdistan President Massoud Barzani the prospect of extending the electricity provision deal from 5 to 15 years.
The regional Electricity Ministry of Kurdistan decided in September to supply 225 MW to Kirkuk province for five years. In exchange for the power, Kirkuk will compensate the Ministry with its oil revenues.
