AMMAN (JT) - A Royal Decree was issued on Sunday appointing Mohammad Said Shahin as Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) governor, replacing Fares Sharaf.
According to the Jordan News Agency, Petra, the Cabinet earlier accepted the resignation of Sharaf, who had been in the post since November 2010.
Shahin has served at CBJ for 37 years, where he assumed several posts and was CBJ deputy governor for nine years.
Also, he founded Jordan Loan Guarantee Corporation and he served as its director general from 2001 to 2003. He also worked as director of the investment department of the Arab Monetary Fund from 1986 to 1992.
The new governor obtained a bachelor's degree in economics in 1973 from the American University in Cairo. He also earned a master's degree in 1978 from Harvard University.
