Tehran, June 27, IRNA - Iran's gas export to Iraq was once again delayed reportedly due to the security conditions prevailing in the neighboring country, Iranian official said on Saturday.

Managing Director of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Alireza Kameli said that Iran's gas exports to Iraq depends on restoration of security across the Iraqi territory.

Iran was due to begin pumping gas to Iraq by the end of the last Iranian year of 1393 (ended on March 20, 2015), but, the export of Iranian gas to Iraq was postponed for two months and then for another one month due to security concerns and Daesh sabotage eastern Iraq.

However, the export of Iranian gas to Iraq has not become operational yet and the existence of Daesh terrorist group and subsequent insecurity is regarded as a main obstacle in this regard.

Kameli said that Iran is ready to export gas to Iraq as soon as Baghdad would clear the areas where the pipelines carry gas from Iran.
