Tehran - Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization on Saturday lifted the ban on sending tourists to Turkey by Iranian tour operators.

ICHHTO had banned Iranian tour operators from taking tourists to Turkey following the unrest in the country due to the abortive coup attempt.

The statement said that the lifting of travel ban to Turkey comes after the restoration of security in Turkey and following Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif's visit to Ankara during which Turkish officials called for resuming Iranian tours to Turkey.

The Turkish officials made assurances that they will compensate for damages to Iranian tour operators during unrests in Turkey.
