Muscat, Oman: Gulf Business Machines (GBM), the leading provider of customized IT solutions in the Gulf, has appointed Ahmed Auda as the country general manager for Oman.

In his new role, Auda will be responsible for aligning GBM Oman with transformational IT initiatives in the public and private sectors, developing staff and participating in regional strategic initiatives.

Auda brings over 20 years of IT sales, strategy and operations experience to GBM. Prior to his new role, Auda was the director of Software Group MEP for IBM Middle East and Africa in Dubai. He led the IBM Middle East operations in the software business and was involved in several projects in the banking and finance sector in the MENA region. Ahmed also led many strategies for IBM's growth initiatives in the software market regionally.

Auda holds a B.SC in Electrical Engineering in computer and automatic controls from Ain Shams University in Egypt.
