More than 120 focussed senior delegates from Airports, Airlines, Civil Aviation Authorities and service providers from more than 16 countries are expected at The Global Aviation Development Summit.
The Global Aviation Development Summit, organized by MICE Quotient is scheduled for the 23rd-24th February 2016, in London, United Kingdom. The Summit brings together senior leaders from the aviation world, to address growth challenges and opportunities for an industry that shoulders 58 million jobs and $2.4 trillion in economic activity across the globe. More than 120+ focussed senior delegates from Airports, Airlines, Civil Aviation Authorities and service providers from more than 16 countries are expected at The Global Aviation Development Summit. The Summit will also host Heads of Civil Aviation authorities of the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates and South Africa which are the three of the world's busiest air hubs and Chief Executives of Airports amongst others.
The Summit is officially supported by The British Aviation Group (BAG) and The British Airline Pilots Association (BALPA). The Summit is also supported by Horizon Executive Search as a Lanyard Sponsor.
While 3.3 billion passengers flew in 2014 alone with 50 million tons of freight flown across almost 50,000 routes, the projections for growth are even more staggering. Estimates say, by 2050, 16 billion passengers (more than double the current population of 7 billion) will need to be flown annually along with 400 million tons of freight. In the light of these forecasts the The Global Aviation Development Summit in February will offer global aviation leaders a platform to examine the initiatives that need to be taken to meet this ever-growing and sky rocketing demand. Along with growth, aviation safety and security also needs to be examined as demonstrated by the tragic and extraordinary incidents of 2014-15.
The event will formally commence on the 23rd of February with a Keynote Address by Andrew Haines, C.E.O, Civil Aviation Authority U.K (CAA UK) followed with addresses by Laila Hareb, Asst Director General - Aviation Strategies and International Affairs from the U.A.E General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA UAE) and Poppy Khoza, Director of Civil Aviation, South African Civil Aviation Authority.
More than 20 distinguished international speakers would be speaking at the Summit including Gordon Dewar, C.E.O, Edinburgh Airport; Paul Kehoe, C.E.O, Birmingham Airport; Laurie Berryman, Vice President UK, Emirates Airline; Chris Chalk, Chairman, The British Aviation Group; Jim McAuslan, General Secretary, British Air Line Pilots' Association (BALPA); Chris Woodroofe, Head of Security & Business Continuity Gatwick Airport; Alastair Muir, Operations Director , NATS ICAO; Gordon Wright Head Cargo Border Management; International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Some of the themes to be covered at the Summit include the "Open Skies" policy, market opportunities for emerging airlines, expanding airspace infrastructure and airports, gaining approvals and Delivering secure airports and a great passenger experience with less space, more passengers and at a lower cost. The Summit also focuses on diverse themes from the rise of the low cost airlines and its effects on the global market, to themes of air traffic management, fleet development and aviation safety and security, amongst others
Mr. Laurie Berryman, Vice President UK, Emirates Airlinewill discuss Emirates' success in the UK. Over the last 28 years Emirates has transformed its operation from one small office of around 15 employees managing seven flights to Dubai per week to one of the largest international carriers servicing the UK.
Mr. Berryman said: "We first launched our UK operations with just one daily flight, and now operate 119 flights per week from six UK gateways. In this time, we've been able to add the iconic Airbus A380 to many of our routes, offering a level of customer experience very few airlines can compete with. We are now the only operator of the A380 outside of London and in January 2016 all of our eight daily flights from Heathrow and Gatwick will be serviced by the aircraft.
