• World's first 'Brilliant Wind Turbine,' Predix operating system for Industrial Internet among technologies highlighted

• GE Store, the unique opportunity to share and access technology, R&D and expertise globally, also on spotlight

Dubai - In the first of its kind showcase of its Industrial Internet technologies in the region, GE (NYSE: GE) is presenting its advanced suite of solutions that drive operational efficiency and help achieve significant productivity leaps at the Internet of Things (IoT) Expo being held on June 8 & 9, 2015, at the Dubai World Trade Center.

GE is the Gold Sponsor of the region's first dedicated IoT event that brings together smart and connected enterprises, governments and consumers to leverage the tremendous possibilities offered by the connected world of Internet of Things.

As a global pioneer and tech leader in harnessing the power of IoT, GE is presenting its Industrial Internet technologies that integrate the power of the physical and digital worlds. By meshing advanced analytics with heavy machinery, Industrial Internet not only helps achieve significant gains in operational efficiency but also maximizes productivity by predicting and driving seamless production cycles.

At the heart of the IoT strategy by GE is Predix, a powerful new software platform developed by the company specifically to connect people, data and machines over the Industrial Internet.  A technology platform, used behind the closed doors of a data center connected to data lakes and other forms of big data storage, Predix can also be deployed in the cloud to make it more widely accessible and available. Essentially, it runs apps, called Predictivity solutions, that allow to do big data analytics, monitor machines remotely and have them 'talk' to each other, providing a stable and scalable way to quickly develop and deploy new applications.

Predix is a game changer that provides GE the intelligence to understand what's going on in a machine, and what we can do about it before it affects its customers. Predictivity apps can keep an eye on locomotives, collect data about heat and vibration, and predict when users need to perform maintenance or replace parts. GE has now opened the Predix platform for other software developers.

Nabil Habayeb, GE's President & Chief Executive Officer for the Middle East, North Africa & Turkey, said: "The Internet of Things is an industry game changer that will reset the boundaries of manufacturing competencies and driving unprecedented levels of efficiency. GE, as a pioneer in leveraging its potential, sees tremendous potential for Industrial Internet to bring about transformational growth in the region, across multiple sectors, including power, water, healthcare and aviation. The IoT Expo in Dubai complements the Smart Dubai initiative announced by the leadership, and as a long-term tech partner in growth, we are committed to contributing our path-breaking technologies to support it."

Habayeb added:
"GE's advantage is that we have global leadership in joining innovative technology with industrial depth. This enables our customers to achieve outcomes that deliver lower unit cost because with the Industrial Internet, analytics become predictive, employees increase productivity and machines are geared to perform at full efficiency. This serves the region, which is striving to increase efficiency and productivity levels in energy and water sectors, particularly, to meet the growing demand."

One of the highlights of GE's participation at the IoT Expo is its 2.5-120, the world's most efficient high-output and the first brilliant wind turbine. It is the first of its kind to bring together world-class efficiency and power output at low wind speed sites, capturing a 25 percent increase in efficiency and a 15 percent increase in power output compared to GE's current model. The turbine's high efficiency and high output unlock higher returns for wind farm operators at low wind speed sites.

GE is drawing on the advanced technologies that leverage internet connectivity with its GE Store, thus strengthening its own internal efficiency. GE Store allows every business in GE to share and access collective technology, R&D, and commercial and managerial expertise in order to achieve lower costs, higher efficiency, and faster growth. This in turn contributes the company's competitive advantage helping expand software and analytical product offering and big new product innovations.

Most recently, GE Power & Water opened the first-of-its-kind Monitoring & Diagnostic Center in the Middle East and Africa region in Dubai. Located in GE's office in Dubai Internet City, the new M&D Center brings transformational change to the service extended to GE's partners, enabling them to achieving significant leaps in productivity and efficiency by harnessing Industrial Internet.

Last year, GE also opened its ecomagination Center in Masdar City to develop innovative solutions for driving sustainable growth. Building on GE's ecomagination initiative, a technology platform to increase customer productivity and drive cleaner energy solutions, the new Center showcases GE's advanced technology solutions, including Industrial Internet, and offers training on the challenges and opportunities in advancing energy and water efficiency. It also serves as a hub for localized innovation that involves all key stakeholders including GE's partners, educational institutions and the community at large.
