Dubai - The German National Tourist Office announced yesterday the theme for its promotional activities in 2016, titled "Holidays in the heart of nature in Germany". The announcement came in a press conference held by the office in Dubai. The new theme comes to complement the multi themes adopted by the office's promotional activities, including medical tourism, smart luxury, shopping, and others. The office also announced great results for tourism in Germany for the past year of 2015, with an ambitious plan for the current year.

The new theme announced by the German National Tourist Office will focus on the beautiful nature and natural experiences awaiting visitors of the country, with a special focus on accessible natural wonders, such as national parks, and protected biosphere reserves, all available in abundance and uniqueness in Germany. With the new theme, GNTO invites visitors to discover the natural beauty of Germany, the diversity it enjoys, the rare flora and fauna and to explore these regions on foot or horseback, by bike or boat to be rewarded with unforgettable impressions, a profound sense of relaxation and a feeling of being at one with nature.

Commenting on the subject, Maria Amaral, Director of the Marketing & Sales Office of the German National Tourist Office (GNTO) in the Gulf region, said: "the office is expanding its themes, which plays an important role in its promotional campaigns." Amaral continued, "The new theme focuses on a new aspect of the German tourism sector, and capitalizes on the wealth of natural beauty and exclusive experiences the country can offer. We are confident that the offerings that we will focus on will attract yet more visitors from the gulf region, especially those who love nature and exploration."

The German National Tourist Office also announced that GCC visitors have set a new record in choosing Germany as a travel destination. During the first 11 months of 2015 tourists from the GCC outdid for the first time the mark of two million overnight stays in Germany. According to the figures released by the German Federal Statistical Office, the number of overnight stays by visitors from this region reached 2,076,841 in the period from January to November 2015. The statistics show an increase of 17.9 per cent as compared to the data of 2014 when the overnight stays by Gulf national over the same period stood at 1,761,528.

It is worth mentioning that GNTO works on behalf of the German federal government to promote Germany as a travel destination on a global level, via activities that include the development of new marketing strategies and concepts based on specific themes, events and attractions, and also bringing together and optimizing the diverse marketing activities of partners in the German travel industry.
