Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has appointed Yarub Mohamed Obaidallaas its new General Manager for Oman.

Yarub, an Emirati national, will lead the further development of the airline's commercial strategy in Oman based in Muscat. He will alsobe responsible for furthergrowing Etihad Airways' relationshipswith its travel trade and corporate customers.

Yarub joined the airline in 2009 as Business Development Manager for Hala Abu Dhabi, later serving as Government Sales Manager Abu Dhabi, where he successfully managed the Abu Dhabi Government Employee Travel Programme. He most recently served as Etihad Airways' Sales Manager for Sharjah and Northern Emirates.

Etihad Airways' Vice President - Global Sales, Danny Barranger, said: "Oman is a key market for Etihad Airways, where we currently offer three daily servicesto its capital, Muscat.

"We are delighted that Yarub, who has an extensive and successful track record across commercial functions, will lead the team into the next phase of development as the Omani market continues to grow. From 15 June, we will be adding a fourth daily flight between Abu Dhabi and Muscat."

Yarub said: "Etihad Airways commenced flights to Muscat in March 2006 and it has remained a key market for us ever since. I am excited about the opportunity to further develop our presence in Oman."

Yarub will report to Etihad Airways' Area General Manager GCC and Yemen, Maen Abdul Halim.
