Cloud & IT services director expresses need for more cloud service providers in the region
Dubai - Equinix, the global interconnection and data center company, today announced its participationin the upcoming Cloud World Forum MENA, the leading cloud computing event in the Middle East & North Africa.
During the three-day event slated to take place at the Habtoor Grand Hotel, Dubaifrom 12th to 14th April, Equinix will engage in a thought-leadership session where Sam Johnston, Director, Cloud & IT Services, Equinix will deliver a key note address on 'The Cloud Enabled enterprise'. The session will focus on the need for cloud-enabled enterprises in the region, the benefits for businesses of switching to one, and the transformation challenges and current trends witnessed in the industry. Equinix MENA will also host a Cloud Open Day at their data center, on 15th April from 10 am to 12 noon which will be open to all cloud service providers and enterprises.
According to a recent IDC report, the public cloud services market in Middle East and Africa is forecasted to grow at a compound annual rate of 27.4 per cent; while UAE and KSA markets are expected to grow 1.5 times of that rate during 2013-2018.
"Cloud adoption is on the rise in MENA region and factors such as cost savings and better utilization of resourcesare driving this trend," said Jeroen Schlosser, Managing Director, Equinix MENA. "However, the region needs multiple public and private cloud service providers to offer enterprises with more choices so that they can move their desired IT workloads to the cloud. Equinix is spearheading cloud density in its Dubai data center, with multiple cloud service providers offering their services from their facility. With our expertise and technology, we want to clear all the inhibitions businesses have when it comes to cloud adoption and we hope to achieve that through our participation in the Cloud World Forum MENA," said Schlosser.
The Cloud World Forum MENA will have thought-provoking keynotes, hands-on labs, brainstorming sessions and live demos over two days helping organisations make an informed decision on cloud adoption and monetisation.
