Dubai - A team from UAE Red Crescent Authority was welcomed by Emirates Post Group at its head office to mark the culmination of support to the 'Tarahamu' campaign which raised funds for those affected by the recent cold wave in the Levant and Iraq.

Mr. Fahad Al Hosani, Acting CEO of Emirates Post Group along with senior officials and volunteers from the Group welcomed the teamwhich was headed by Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Haj Al Zarooni, Director of Red Crescent Authority - Dubai branch.

In a welcome address, Mr. Fahad Al Hosani lauded the continuing cooperation with the Red Crescent Authority to promote community-based services, and said EPG had adopted a corporate social responsibility strategywith direct engagement ofvolunteers from the staff.

He praised the humanitarian services rendered by the UAE Red Crescent Authority, and also appreciated the participation of the EPG's top leadership to motivate the staff to support to community activities. He thanked thevolunteers for their role in raising funds for affected people.

Speaking about the UAE Red Crescent's activities, Mr. Al Zarooni explained the mechanism adoptedin carrying out humanitarian work, and cited some of the difficulties and challenges faced by relief and Red Crescent volunteers, while delivering aid and relief materials to the needy.  He attributed this to UAE'sspirit of humanitarianismand said the success of the Tarahamu campaign was due to the direction of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and follow-up measures by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

He expressed his pleasure over the response to the fundraising activities and praised the Red Crescent workers for reaching the affected areas before the cold wave reached its peak, rendering assistance when it was needed most.
