The Egyptian government will resume offering Rod El Farag highway project in June 2012, after the cabinet approved it, a senior finance ministry official told Zawya.
The EGP 4 billion project was first approved in 2010 but put on hold after the January Revolution in 2011. It will connect Greater Cairo to the Cairo-Alexandria road with a length of 35 kilometers.
Atter Hanoura, director of the public-private partnership (PPP) central unit at the Egyptian ministry of finance, told Zawya the Rod El Farag highway will be built in two phases. Phase one will extend from Alexandria Desert Road to Cairo Ring Road and phase two will extend from Cairo Ring Road to the eastern side of the Nile-Shoubra area and the Al Ismailia Canal Road.
