Abu Dhabi: Eagle Hills, a UAE-based private investment and real estate development company, and Belgrade Waterfront Capital Investment, announce the start of construction of its flagship development Belgrade Waterfront, the master-planned community situated along the Sava River in Belgrade, Serbia. Belgrade Waterfront is one of the most anticipated projects in the country and a ground-breaking ceremony of its first residential buildings was attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, Mayor of Belgrade Siniša Mali and Eagle Hills board member Mohamed Alabbar.

With development value of USD 3 billion, Belgrade Waterfront is developed by Eagle Hills, with the support of the Serbian Government. On a total construction area of 2 million sq m, the project will have a total gross site area of approximately 1 million sq m. The spectacular new city hub along River Sava is one of a number of UAE investment projects in Serbia and shows the strength of the partnership between the two countries.

Aleksandar Vučić, Serbian Prime Minister said at the ground-breaking ceremony of BW Residences, the first two residential buildings in Belgrade Waterfront: "This innovative project is the first step in defining our vision for the future and defining Serbia's path towards progress and development, becoming a modern-day country. Belgrade Waterfront will not only revitalize Belgrade, but it will also help our city take its place as an attractive investment destination and put it on the map as one of the leading regional cities."

The ground breaking ceremony also marked the completion and inauguration of the waterfront promenade's first phase of redevelopment, featuring river decks, a kids' play area, food trucks and animated by a full programme of activities.

'BW Residences', centrally situated on this vibrant promenade overlooking the Sava River, will offer a range of well-appointed one to four-bedroom apartments and feature a design that draws on the architectural heritage of Belgrade. Units are packaged with an abundance of leisure amenities, retail and dining options that celebrate a European, urban lifestyle. Sales of 'BW Residences' began on 3 October 2015.

Adjacent to BW Residences, the first "W" hotel in Serbia - W Belgrade and The Residences at W Belgrade - was recently revealed. The partnership with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide is another example of a global brand seeing Serbia's growth potential of the country, with values that align tightly with the vision for the project in providing an unmatched lifestyle choice for Belgrade Waterfront's visitors and future residents.
