UAE, January 31, 2015 - In line with its efforts to consolidate its relations with public and private sector entities, Dubai Smart Government (DSG) recently honoured its key partners for their roles in achieving its Strategic Vision 2014-2017 of transforming Dubai into the world's smartest city. The Department firmly believes in the importance of such cooperation in providing their support and expertise in the emirate's shift towards a 'smart' government. The ceremony was held at the InterContinental Dubai Festival City, where 34 government agencies, three federal ministries, and more than 30 private sector companies were recognized in the presence of H.E Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General, Dubai Municipality; H.E Younis Haji Al Khoori, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance; H.E Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs and senior officials of the honoured public and private sector organizations.

The awarding ceremony was attended by DSG's senior management, including H.E. Ahmed Bin Humaidan, and Marwan Bin Haider, Executive Director of the Planning and Development Department. In his speech, H.E. Bin Humaidan welcomed the attendees and praised the efforts of all stakeholders from the public and private sectors in implementing the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai of a 'smart' government and the emirate's transformation into the city of the future. He also commended their endeavors in realizing the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, to accelerate the 'Dubai Government Towards 2021' initiative to achieve the government's ultimate goal of facilitating the lives of its citizens and residents by providing them with easy access to government services through smart devices.

In his speech, H.E. Bin Humaidan praised the spirit of cooperation and coordination that prevails between DSG and the government entities on one hand and the private sector on the other. He emphasized that the government departments should benefit from the capabilities and infrastructure owned by DSG along with the expertise possessed by the private entities. This will help in accelerating the transition process to a 'smart' government within the timeline set by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed and contribute towards raising Dubai's competitiveness.

After the welcome speech, a short film was played to showcase the most important achievements of DSG during the last year due to close cooperation between the three parties. The film compared the success of the most common services launched in 2014 with that in 2013, such as ePay, mPay, eCromplain, eSuggest, Government Resources Planning Systems, Infrastructure Services, Call Centre, SMS system, and MyID service. The results, when compared with the customer satisfaction questionnaire fo 2013, confirm the success of smart apps launched in 2014.

At the end of the event, Bin Humaidan honoured all teams representing DSG, government departments, and private sector companies. He noted that the success is a natural outcome of a close cooperation between the parties to achieve the smart transformation process ongoing in Dubai.

Dubai Smart Government's Strategic Plan (2014-2017) includes a vital objective that emphasizes the Department's close cooperation with its key partners from the public and private sectors. The collaboration is aimed towards achieving an interdependent and cooperative government, enhanced by key performance indicators to measure its success in achieving this goal by creating innovative ways to provide government services to its citizens, residents and visitors within the framework of a 'smart' government.
