The service enable companies to process licensing transactions online
Dubai- Roads & Transport Authority - Nashwan Atta'ee: The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) announces the launch of the eWallet service, offering companies and corporate customers a safe and easy-to-use payment method for processing their transactions with the Licensing Agency, most notably the renewal of vehicle registration, and the payment of traffic fine services. The new service is set to be up and running next June.
In a statement made in this regard, H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA, said: "The launch of this service echoes RTA's commitment to diversify service delivery channels highlighted by the internet. The RTA has therefore charted a holistic strategy for switching the service offering to the online mode in keeping with the vision and polices of the eGovernment of Dubai. The initiatives and activities undertaken by the RTA in offering services online have had an immense impact on streamlining and easing the customers service experience.
"The eWallet is a new service for businesses & corporate entities enabling them to pay fees and fines pertinent to the services of the Licensing Agency such as vehicle registration, vehicle transfer, and the change of vehicle ownership services among others in a handy and a safe environment. The eWallet can be set up by submitting an application for opening an account with the RTA through a variety electronic or manual channels. The customer then deposits a certain amount in the account with the RTA by means of bank transfer, following which the customer can pay fees or fines through the eWallet, and accordingly process the required licensing transactions. The launch of the service came in the light of a study & survey conducted by the RTA covering companies and entities that have large fleets with the aim of devising the best techniques to encourage them to use e-services in processing their licensing transactions. The study concluded that some companies do not favour the use of credit cards as they involve high risks to business owners," explained Al Tayer.
"The RTA currently provides high volume of services online including the renewal of vehicles registration, and under this new service companies will be able to process their vehicle registration processes in a few minutes. Besides that, the service will reduce the processing workloads in RTA's centres which in turn will cut clients congestion, slash the waiting times, and contribute to delivering better services to customers.
"Through launching the eWallet service, companies will no longer need to dispatch representatives to RTA centers to process routine transactions since all services required will be available online and accessible at any time they wish. Moreover, the provision of an option for cash payment will diminish the risks of losing cash amounts and eliminate the potential of fraudulent processes," he continued.
New Services
RTA Chairman of the Board and Executive Director further stated: "The RTA provides a wide variety of e-services to customers around-the-clock without obliging them to visit customer service centers. It offers as much as 155 e-services online and 30 services through RTA Call Center (by dialing the toll-free number 8009090); which is the first Center to process transactions via telephone such as the renewal of driver licenses and vehicle registration as well as the payment of fines. The RTA also offers 20 services via smart-phones including text message services for booking taxicabs, inquiring about the arrival of bus & metro service, and the payment of parking fees in addition to a number of e-services provided through various types of smart-phones such as the inquiring about the balance of NOL card and the filing of complaints or cases.
"Over the next few months, the RTA will launch the Self-Service device; the first of its kind that validates the identity of the customer through matching the ID card with the finger prints, along with the eGate. The gadget, which will be deployed at Customer Service Centers and public places such as shopping malls, can print the vehicle registration card, driving license card, NOL card and the seasonal parking cards. For example, in case of processing a vehicle registration renewal transaction, the customer inserts his or her Identity Card in the device, and following identification, the customer selects the vehicle whose registration has expired and the system will compute and display the due fees on the screen. The customer is then prompted to insert his or her credit card and complete the payment process. The system will finally issue the user with a print out of the payment receipt, new registration card and the registration expiry sticker.
"The RTA will also install interactive information touch screens in all metro stations for the use of metro riders enabling them smooth access to all information related to the metro service. The screen will display the map of Dubai Emirate along with the metro route and stations on both the Red and Green Lines. By touching an icon of a station, the basic relevant information are displayed such as the metro service hours, feeder bus routes, and the key tourist landmarks in the vicinity of the station. The screen will also display information about various types of NOL cards (Gold, Silver, Blue and Red) enlist the features of each card, and provide the fare structure in respect of each card. The user can also identify the selling points of various cards and get acquainted with all security & safety instructions, fines, offences and the services available in the station besides being prompted to express views and comments via an e-form.
