Daleel Petroleum employees team up with Outward Bound Oman/Tahaddi on challenging celebration of 44th National Day

Muscat - Six emerging leaders from Daleel Petroleum have teamed up with Oman's leading Human Resource development organisation Outward Bound Oman/Tahaddi, as part of a unique leadership development programme.

Each year, to celebrate National Day, teams of employees from some of the leading companies in Oman, such as Daleel, take part in a unique outdoor journey, organised by Outward Bound Oman. Each journey is made up of several legs, with each leg lasting seven days, with a team of six outstanding individuals selected by their company.

The journey got underway on January 17th, under the guidance of experienced Omani Outward Bound instructors, with a team of six Daleel staff recreating a journey from Duqm to Fahud that took place in 1954, a journey which represents an important milestone of Oman's oil history. Whilst previous National Day journeys have involved trekking on foot, or on camel, this year the team will have to work together to haul a four wheeled cart, which will carry all of their essential survival equipment.

Mark Evans, General Manager Outward Bound Oman said "our National Day journeys provide a unique opportunity for team and leadership development in Oman. Without doubt, the six individuals nominated by Daleel have a tough challenge ahead, but as they will work, eat and sleep together 24 hours a day, for seven days, they will learn lessons that cannot be learnt in a normal training workshop environment, lessons that will be long lasting, and which can be transferred back to the workplace for the benefit of all parties".

Gong Changli, CEO of Daleel Petroleum said that "The Company has always sought various tools to develop and enrich its employees. Humans are one of the most important resources that contribute to growth. We realize the significance of nurturing our employees as well as acknowledging their achievements in pursuing our strategic goals. We are delighted to have our employees engaged in such a challenge particularly with its relevance to the history of oil in Oman, and to develop future leaders.

The journey team will be accompanied by a professional film maker, and updates can be heard on Wisal FM. Daily images and progress reports can be seen on Outward Bound Oman's Facebook page which can be found at www.outwardboundoman.com
