Abu Dhabi - As BAE Systems returns to participate in EmiratesSkills, the national event that actively promotes careers in skilled trades and technologies, the company said the competition highlighted the opportunities available to Emirati youth in the aerospace sector.

Steve Wearden, an executive in BAE Systems' Military Air business, commented: "Students face a range of career paths, but EmiratesSkills has again demonstrated that engineering, particularly in the aerospace sector, offers a wealth of opportunities for young Emiratis. It's a hands-on discipline, and a career which is immensely rewarding when the fruits of your labour are seen in the form of something like a fighter jet. BAE Systems actively encourages young people to experience what a career in aerospace might be like, and I believe EmiratesSkills provides that kind of opportunity to young Emiratis."

BAE Systems returns as a sponsor of EmiratesSkills, and will have a range of activities on its stand for students to engage with. To showcase a state-of-the art product of the future, a cockpit from a Typhoon fighter jet will be on the BAE Systems stand to give Emirati students hands-on experience of some of BAE Systems' aviation technologies, whilst skills based activities will test the mental agility of all those who visit the show.

Wearden added: "In previous years it has been good to see how enthusiastic many young Emiratis participating at EmiratesSkills have been about joining the industry, so we're proud to continue being part of the journey of inspiring theUAE's youth and supporting the country's burgeoning aerospace sector."
