Testament to AMLAK's commitment to best practice in sustainability and energy conservation has been witnessed through the organization's new golf facility which was also specifically commended. The project proudly embodies the Qatar 2030 vision for human, social, environmental and economic development by providing a framework to grow the game of golf in Qatar with a focus on making the sport fun and accessible for all.

Truly unique to the region and the world the facility has integrated technology in every aspect especially in minimizing the use of water and energy now at the time of its construction and for the future longevity of the course.

Mohammed Al-Naimi, Deputy General Manager at Qatar International Golf Course explained why this acknowledgement is important for the project as it strives to be environmentally sustainable as well as valuable economic contribution to Qatar's luxury leisure and hospitality industry:

"We're currently on an exciting journey to develop one of the most sustainable golf courses in the world. That journey requires us to redefine and re-invent the way a golf course is constructed. It requires the use of new technology, science and research. We have the potential to be a new blue-print for the world, but our first priority is to maintain and enhance Qatar's environmental resources."

"During the building process we have been entirely focused on preserving nature and water, reducing energy consumption, controlling pollution and using local and recycled resources. But once operational such a focus upon sustainability will always remain as it is core to our values."

Since inception the facility has been working with guidance from the Golf Environment Organization, GEO, the international non-profit organization dedicated entirely to providing a credible and accessible system of sustainability standards for the golf industry. The process for becoming GEO certified begins at the design and construction phase right through to the golf club's ongoing operation, and stringent criteria consider everything from how water and environmental resources are managed, to the social and economic benefits of the facility.

Once completed the project will comprises an 18-hole championship golf course, an innovative 6-hole championship course, a 9-hole par-3 course all designed by Ryder Cup legend and Major Winner, Jose Maria Olazabal as well as high-tech driving range and practice facilities, a centre of excellence and other recreation areas to allow the club to host a myriad of indoor and outdoor activities for all the family.
