Dubai, UAE: The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has announced the establishment of the Algerian Business Council for Dubai and Northern Emirates. The launch of this new business council is seen as a positive step to boost economic cooperation and enhancement of trade and commerce between the business communities of Dubai and Algeria.

Taking the total to 43 business councils operating under the umbrella of Dubai Chamber, the Algerian Business Council in Dubai and Northern Emirates has 15 members from a wide sector of economic activities including petroleum, pharmaceutical, construction, logistics and food stuff trading.

Mr. Atiq Juma Nasib, Senior Director, Commercial Services Sector, Dubai Chamber, welcomed the formation of the new council which he said will go a long way in enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries. He added that this also shows Dubai Chamber's commitment to providing all possible help and facilities to private sector companies in their endeavour to grow and contribute to creating a lucrative business environment for foreign direct investments in the emirate.

"We are sure this new Council will help business communities of the UAE and Algeria to establish stronger trade ties and contribute to the economic development of Algeria and UAE while taking both the countries' bilateral relations to higher levels," said Mr. Nasib adding that presently there are 195 companies, co-owned and operated in Dubai by Algerian businessmen and the country occupies 58th rank on the list of the emirate's trading partners.

Highlighting the important role played by the various business groups and business councils, Mr. Nasib further stressed that these entities directly support the trade sector, which is one of the leading drivers of the emirate's economic engine as they also contribute to promoting the competitiveness of Dubai's business community in the global business arena.

On his part, Mr. Salahuddin Noubli, Head of the Algerian Business Council, informed that the goal behind the establishment of the Council is to promote and support the trading relations of the two brotherly countries in various fields while serving as a unified voice of the Algerian companies operating in Dubai.

Mr. Noubli also informed about the Council's agenda to strengthen Algerian investors' presence in the local market while encouraging them to contribute to the economic landscape of Dubai as he lauded the efforts of Dubai Chamber in providing all facilities to help the business community and the private sector to play an important role in the economic development process of the emirate.
