DUBAI -- Al Argan Towell Investment Co. has pulled off an appreciable achievement in the field of real estate in the Sultanate by winning the prize of the best architectural design for the project of Al Qurm Gardens.

The prize was within the context of the CNBC's real estate channel for the achievements in the residential property sector in the Arab world.

A number of companies specialised in the field took part in the contest.

The prize was received by Hussain bin Jawad bin Abdulrasoul, chairman of the company, during a ceremony held recently in Dubai in the presence of a number of chairpersons and representatives of real estate companies in the region.

Hussain expressed his delight over winning the prize saying" "We are proud of winning the CNBC's prize which was awarded after a thorough verification of different aspects of the projects. We have won the prize despite the presence of a number of giants with long experience in the real estate sector in the contest".

"The prize reaffirmed our commitment to the development of the real estate sector in the Sultanate," he added.

He said the company had executed the first project of 70 villas in Al Hail. "Our second project, which is under construction at South Al Hail, will have 80 villas and the third project will have 150 residential units, he said.

The work of two mega projects would begin by the end of this year, he said, adding that the first one (Al Khairan) would be a $70 million project, and the second one would be a resort with international specifications, at north of Muscat, at a cost of $400 million.

"Our plan is to complete these projects by 2010. Investments in the new projects is estimated to be around RO500 million," he said.

"CNBC's prize would give us an impetus," he added.

Engineer Hussan bin Ahmed Al Nabhani, general manager of Al Argan Towell Investment Co., also expressed his delight over winning the prize.

"It would definitely be a driving force for us in meeting the future housing needs of our community. The technical and financial elements of our projects helped us in winning the prize," he added.

Salim bin Malik bin Mohammed Al Battashi, head of sales at Al Argan Towell Investment Co, said: "We are proud of winning the prize after competing with specialised companies in the region".
