Canberra, Oct 14th, 2011 (WAM)--H. H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister met in the Australian Capital, Canberra, here yesterday Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Kevin Rudd, Australian Minister for Trade Craig Emerson and Australian Minister for Defence Stephen Smith.

Leading the UAE delegation in the official visit to Australia, Sheikh Abdullah discussed with Rudd the cooperation ties between the two countries and ways to bolster the investment, economic and trade relations.

The UAE Foreign Minister stressed the significance of exchanging such visits by the officials of two friendly countries, indicating that the UAE was keen to extend bridges of cooperation with Australia.

For his part, the Australian Foreign Minister welcomed Sheikh Abdullah and the delegation accompanying him, adding that his visit to Australia would further boost the cooperation ties and friendship between the two countries.

The UAE FM also discussed with the Australian Trade Minister ways to enhance the economic, trade and investment, especially advanced projects in the areas of renewable energy.

Emerson praised the UAE for providing good investment environment, which attracts international investment projects, making the UAE an international business hub.

Sheikh Abdullah discussed with the Australian Defence Minister the cooperation ties between the two countries, especially in the area of defence and security and ways to boost them.

Present were Khalid Ghanem Al Ghaith, Assistant Foreign Minister for the Economic Affairs, UAE Ambassador to Australia Ali Nasser Al Nuaimi, Abdullah Ali Al Saboosi, Director of the Department of American and Pacific Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Staff Brig.
