Smart assistive technology to help decision makers enhance their services

Overwhelming response to the 3-day Expo from government bodies, private sector and families

Dubai, February 10, 2016

His Excellency Abdulla Al Shaibani, Dubai Executive Council Secretary-General, said Dubai is rapidly moving towards attaining its vision of becoming a fully inclusive, disability-friendly city by 2020.

"The government is taking numerous initiatives towards empowering and including people having disabilities in society. We have hired experts to analyse how disabled-friendly the city is and initiatives are being taken based on that and we continue to explore the latest technologies that can enhance the lives of the disabled," said Al Shaibani, during his visit to AccessAbilities Expo 2016, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC) today.

Al Shaibani, who was accompanied by top-tier government officials, toured AccessAbilities Expo 2016, interacted with the exhibitors and also tried some of the latest technology products.

"AccessAbilities Expo is a major milestone in Dubai's journey to becoming disabled friendly. The products and innovations displayed here will help decision-makers to explore technology that can add value to the services they provide," he said.

AccessAbilities, Middle East's largest Expo for the disabled, with participation from more than 150 exhibitors from over 30 countries, government bodies, special education centres and associations, has received tremendous response from families, schools, business organisations and government bodies.

The 3-day Expo is being organised by Reed Exhibitions Middle East and Nadd AlShiba PR & Event Management.

Daniyal Qureshi, Group Exhibition Director, Reed Exhibitions Middle East, said: "We are very pleased with the response to AccessAbilities from all sectors. Exhibitors have had a very successful first two days, and are looking forward to welcoming more visitors to their stands on the third day. There is also very positive feedback from visitors who have attended the event from across various private sectors, government bodies and families."
