- The British institution provides training opportunities for graduate students in the UAE about green building standards

Dubai - A high delegation from Dubai Land Department (DLD) visits the British Research Establishment (BRE) in London; the Group is one of the leading institutions around the world in the provision of technical consultancy for the public and private sectors in the field of buildings development and residential complexes to achieve sustainability and green building standards.

HE Sultan Butti BinMejren Director General of DLDheaded the DLD delegation, accompanied by HEMajida Ali Rashid, Assistant Director General and Head of Real Estate Investment Management and Promotion Centre - the investment arm of DLD - along with a number of DLD directors.

"the main goal behind our visit to BRE was to exchange expertise, as well as to visit the Innovation Park at the institution, particularly as it was displaying the latest relevant technologies relating to a lot of our activities, and to identify other community buildings designs and initiatives for sustainable real estate," said HE Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General of DLD.

DLD delegation met with Guy Hammercely, BRE Group Director Research & Innovation along with senior officials from the group, where they discussed the various ways of cooperation between them, and the contributions that the Group will delivering to the real estate development of skills in the UAE, and the exchange of the UAE's and UK's experiences, in addition to the agreement between the parties to develop a system for the exchange of experience between them.

"We have achieved our goal of this visit, where it was agreed with senior officials in the Group to form a working team to develop a plan to raise awareness of issues related to sustainable real estate, and after that we discuss green building standards and criteria for sustainable construction that are applied currently in Britain and Dubai alike. Thanks to that we can reach a number of common denominators innovative and creative ways to market real estate sustainability issues. The most important aspect is to open the door to graduate students in the United Arab Emirates for appropriate training in the field of real estate sustainability and green building in Britain," said HEMajida Ali Rashid, Assistant Director General, Head of Real Estate Investment Management & Promotion Center.

The visit resulted in reaching an agreement with the Group to design a system to spread awareness among developers, through training programs and courses, which will be organized by DLD. DLD will depend on professional trainers to host them from leading institutions to offer lectures, workshops and courses relevant to the real estate community in the field of real estate sustainability, health and safety systems of the Foundation.

Moreover, the delegation also discussed the several ways of support between BRE Group and DLD, especially that Dubai will hostThe Regional Center for Resource Efficient and Sustainable Cities for the Arab Region, in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). The department will use the initiatives launched by the Group after the confirmation of the existence of the common denominator.

It was also agreed between the two parties to establish and host the Innovation Park in Dubai, to be able to offer its services to the Arab region in full. To implement this project on the ground, the two parties agreed to form a joint working group to discuss the full details for hosting this park in Dubai to serve the region through sustainability center.
