Patronized by HE Minister of Transport and Communications

Doha - Qatar - The fifth edition of the Qatar Transport Safety Forum (formerly the ITS & Road Safety Forum) returns from 17-18 October and is being held, this year, under the patronage of H.E. Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti.

The forum serves as a unique platform for the local authorities such as the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) as well as the relevant companies to discuss their initiatives in improving safety across all modes of transport in the country. In addition, distinguished GCC and global experts will share best practices and success stories on transport safety improvement.

This year’s edition will be the most diverse in the forum’s 5-year history. The Ministry of Transport and Communications organizes the event in collaboration with IQPC Middle East.

“In the wake of the announcement of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, transportation has become a focus of many of the world’s governments and Qatar is committed to achieving the goals set out by the UN which are also aligned with the Qatar National Vision 2030,” stated Mohaned El-Mahgoub, Forum Director, IQPC Middle East. “The forum will serve as a catalyst for accelerated development by bringing in some of the most preeminent experts from Qatar, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Austria, USA and Singapore. They will showcase the latest equipment and technologies being used around the world that will aid Qatar’s development into one of the safest transport networks in the world,” El-Mahgoub continued.

The issue of work zone safety will feature prominently in the discussions, as, by extension, this is integral to the whole transport safety ecosystem. Qatar Rail in particular has been very proactive in this regards and has recently won a RoSPA (the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) Gold Award for the Qatar Rail Lusail Light Rail Transit. Paul Stanley Williams, Health & Safety Senior Manager, QSHESE Department at Qatar Rail, will be presenting a short masterclass on work zone safety and will share the strategies that resulted in this recent award.

With such a diverse array of experts, the forum is set to provide a number of lively debates and discussions, and spot recommendations that would be implemented in Qatar and across the GCC. Speakers confirmed to display their expertise and discuss projects include:
