RABAT, Oct 21 (Reuters) - Morocco's annual consumer price inflation rose to 2.3 percent in September from 1.6 percent in August due to higher food prices, the High Planning Authority said on Friday.

Annual food inflation jumped to 4 percent from 3 percent the previous month. Non-food price inflation rose to 1.1 percent in the year to September, up from 0.6 percent in August.

Communications costs fell 0.2 percent, but hotels, restaurants and education were 2.8 percent more expensive, the agency said, without giving details.

On a month-on-month basis, the consumer price index rose to 0.7 percent in September, up from 0.2 percent in August, as food price inflation rose 1.1 percent.
