Hyas, the leading Greek natural mineral water, was awarded the Emirates Quality Mark (EQM). Known for its crystal clear water, Hyas is bottled at the source in the mountainous region of Cyllene and is considered one of the most prominent bottled water brands in Europe.
Philippos Petrakakos, CEO of Natura Food Imports, owner of Hyas water, announced receiving the EQM as a first step towards introducing the brand in the local market. Laboratory analysis has shown that no chemical methods were used in the bottling process and that its composition and pH is compliant with the highest international standards. The brand was also previously awarded two ISO certificates; ISO 2200:2005 and ISO 9001:2008.
Petrakakos said: “The EQM follows the highest international and local standards and is considered the most important testament to a product’s quality qualifying any international company to enter the local market. Natura Food Imports considers the UAE market a gateway to launching the brand in other markets all over the Middle East.”
He added: “We are proud to have secured authorized distributors throughout the UAE which will help us establish the brand as a trusted natural European water.”
Hyas, meaning raindrops in Greek, is known as a low-sodium water in Europe making it the water of choice for those following a low-sodium diet. It is also considered a very healthy option compared to a number of other European bottled water brands distributed in the region since it contains high levels of magnesium and calcium which stimulate bone growth, according to WHO.
Lab results also revealed that Hyas is free of any harmful substances such as high level of chloride which has been linked to cancer and kidney disease. It is also considered beneficial to people suffering from high blood pressure.
