Noon is looking to expand in online groceries business within the next six months, the UAE e-commerce platform founder and the chairman of Emaar Properties Mohamed Alabbar has said.
The e-retailer is looking for partners for its new groceries division, Alabbar told CNN, adding that it may resort to acquisition if a suitable partner would not be available.
“Our aim is that you come to our website and our app many times during the day and grocery is a critical part of your life and your family life,” the UAE tycoon stated in an interview with the US news channel.
Alabbar unveiled his intention to compete against Amazon in the Middle Eastern market.
“We think the whole region needs a player like us. We know this market’s economy really well, we know the alleys and the issues…we should be able to penetrate all these markets,” Dubai billionaire and Emaar Properties chairman commented.
Earlier in July, Noon announced the launch of two entities in China’s mainland and Hong Kong.
