Cambridge – Cambridge IF Analytica is in the process of confirming faculty for the 3rd edition of Cambridge Islamic Finance Leadership Programme (“Cambridge-IFLP”), to be held on August 13-18, 2017, at Clare College, a member of the University of Cambridge syndicate.

“I am pleased to announce that the faculty is building up gradually, with a number of confirmed mentors from the Middle East,” said Professor Humayon Dar, Executive Chairman of Cambridge IF Analytica. Muhammed Ikram Thowfeek, Founder of MIT Global and CEO of QAF Investments, Kuwait, was a member of the faculty in the 2016 programme and he is expected to remain on the faculty for the forthcoming programme. This year’s notable addition is Iyad Asali, CEO of Islamic International Arab Bank, Jordan, who will share his leadership thoughts with the delegates coming from all over the world.

The 2nd edition of Cambridge-IFLP was held earlier this year at the same college, and was attended by a select group of middle and top middle management personnel of Islamic financial institutions from around the world. Notable mentors and speakers included Iqbal Khan (CEO of Fajr Capital), Dr. Adnan Chilwan (Group CEO of Dubai Islamic Bank), Fadi Al Faqih (CEO of Bank of Khartoum), Dato’ Wan Fadzmi Wan Othman (CEO of Agrobank Malaysia), Sharif El-Gamal (CEO of Soho Properties, USA) and renowned Shari’a scholars like Dr. Daud Bakar and Dr. Akram Laldin.

The next Cambridge-IFLP is expected to be a star-studded programme, with about 15 CEOs of Islamic financial institutions serving as mentors. “We studied all the top executive and leadership programme offered by the top universities in the world, and concluded that the existing programmes are too academic and principally taught by professors who may not have sufficient practical knowledge and understanding of organization level issues,” said Dr. Sofiza Azmi, Programme Director of Cambridge-IFLP. “Ours is a leadership programme with an exclusive focus on practice, led by practitioners,” she continued.

With a number of Leadership Talks given by industry leaders, the delegates will benefit from the in-depth knowledge and understanding of the industry experts on how to develop themselves into effective and influential leaders in their respective organisations and in the global Islamic financial services industry. “It is always a treat to listen to the likes of Iqbal Khan whose inspiring concluding speech at the 2016 Cambridge-IFLP was the perfect closing of the programme,” said Professor Humayon Dar, Executive Chairman of Cambridge IF Analytica.

The Cambridge-IFLP benefits from strategic partnerships with a number of leading Islamic financial institutions. Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD) has been associated with the programme as a Strategic Multilateral Partner. In the 2016 edition, four of its personnel on the Islamic Finance Talent Development programme participated, and it is expected that the same number will attend the forthcoming edition. Other important participating Islamic banks and financial institutions included Agrobank of Malaysia, Bank Rakyat of Malaysia, Jaiz Bank of Nigeria, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, and Commerzbank.

The registration is limited to only 50, and the organisers encourage individuals and institutions to register early to avoid disappointment.
