THE UN Development Programme (UNDP) in Bahrain will be collaborating with Smart Way Consulting (SWS) to organise a range of sustainability initiatives, starting with the Smart Cities Summit (SCS) later this year.

The partnership was announced at the UN House yesterday in the presence of UNDP resident representative Stefano Pettinato and SWS chief executive Waleed Khalaf.

The summit will take place in the kingdom on October 10 and 11, focusing on sustainable and smart cities.

It will be aimed at promoting the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Bahrain.

The SDGs are 17 ambitious and integrated objectives, adopted by all UN member-states in 2015, and renewed every year, as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.
