ABU DHABI, 11th May, 2015 (WAM) -- Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy, is to officially inaugurate the 13th annual POWER-GEN Middle East Conference and Exhibition, PGME, being organised under his patronage at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, ADNEC, from 4th-6th October, 2015.

Al Mazrouei will formally launch the conference and exhibition with an official ribbon cutting ceremony and keynote address on the opening day. The Ministry of Energy will also be prominently participating at the event as a key exhibitor.

Nigel Blackaby, Event Director, said, "We are honoured to have received the patronage of Al Mazrouei and the support of the UAE?s Ministry of Energy, which serves as a testament to the significant role POWER-GEN Middle East has played in the industry and the region as a whole. Building on the event?s strong reputation in the region, this year's PGME will feature high quality strategic and technical conference themes, as well as leading regional and international companies showcasing their latest equipment, technologies and solutions to address future power needs."Other participating exhibitors in the line-up include METKA, AE Power International, Turbomach, AAF International, Masaood John Brown, Siemens, GEA Middle East, Wartsila, AMEC Foster Wheeler, Mitsubishi Hitachi, Ansaldo Energia, Durag Group, Quartzelec Ltd. and PW Power Systems.

"With such support from the region?s power producers, this year is particularly special as we are also introducing a POWER-GEN CONNECT Business Matchmaking feature, which will bring together individuals and organisations seeking to collaborate, mutually benefitting with pre-arranged meetings free of charge. Further information on the matchmaking module will be sent to all registered attendees," added Blackaby.

Renewables will be one of the key topics up for discussion among the 19 conference sessions. This follows the recent ?Renewable Energy Prospects: UAE? report released by the International Renewable Energy Agency, IRENA, Masdar Institute, and the UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, indicating that the country can achieve energy system savings of $1.9 billion (AED 6.98 billion) annually by 2030 by producing a 10 percent share of renewable energy in its total energy supply and almost 25 percent in the power sector. Accounting for the health and environmental benefits of this clean energy, it could amount to additional annual net savings of $1-$3.7 billion by the year 2030.
