DOHA: In response to the media reports on Vodafone Qatar's financial results , the telecom operator yesterday clarified that the write-off of assets in the company was referred primarily to network assets.

Steve Walters, the Company's CFO, said in a statement: "The write-off of various non-performing assets in the company referred primarily to network assets and associated services that had no future use or value to the business following the significant network modernization programme, spending close to QR1bn in total over the past 2 years."

Vodafone is committed to bringing expertise and innovation to Qatar from all parts of one of the world's largest telecommunications companies and to provide the Country with a world class telecommunications infrastructure that supports the Qatar 2022 World Cup and Qatar National Vision 2030, he said.
