ABU DHABI- H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received today Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan,Taro Kono, at the ministry in Abu Dhabi.

They discussed the strategic relations between the UAE and Japan and ways to enhance co-operation between the two countries, especially in the economic, trade, investment, tourism, aviation and energy fields.

Sheikh Abdullah and Kono also exchanged views on the latest developments at regional and international levels, as well as a number of issues of mutual interest.

H.H. welcomed the visit of the Japanese Foreign Minister and lauded the level of bilateral relations between the two sides.

He emphasised the keenness of the UAE to boost joint co-operation with Japan in various fields.

The Japanese minister paid attention to the strategic relations between the two countries and continued keenness on developing them in various fields.

He also said that the UAE is one of Japan's strategic partners and highlighted joint cooperation in a number of areas.

Kono praised the UAE's cultural boom and progress as well as pioneering stature regionally and internationally.

Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State, attended the meeting.
