Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Mall will be the first shopping center in the Kingdom to offer free electric charging for its customers, thanks to a number of EVlink electric vehicle charging stations which have been installed at the Mall by Schneider Electric. The four charging points, situated at gate 4 of the mall’s parking area, will provide free charging for customers’ electric vehicles. The charging stations will be fully operational and running by the end of December this year.

Red Sea Mall is one of the biggest shopping centers in Jeddah and hosts hundreds of brands, both global and local. The mall comprises 242,200 square meters of amenities, including a five-star hotel, seven-story office building, and both external and underground parking areas that are are linked to the mall’s 18 entrances.

Saudi Arabia has launched a number of initiatives to support a transition to a greener, more diversified economy as part of the country’s Vision 2030 strategy. Schneider Electric is one of the country’s leading electric vehicle charger suppliers, with forty-four charging stations located throughout the Kingdom, in residential, commercial and government facilities. The company recently implemented the first electric vehicle fast chargers at the Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University. Electric vehicle infrastructure is set to expand rapidly throughout urban centers to cater to the growing number of electric vehicle owners.

“Electric vehicles are the future of transportation, and we wanted to be the first mall in the Kingdom to offer free electric vehicle charging,” said Red Sea Mall General Manager Engineer Al Rayan Gadouri. “We are fully committed to Vision 2030, and to ensuring that we’re offering the latest technologies to our visitors. We’re excited about this addition to the Red Sea Mall, and we’re looking forward to serving lots of electric vehicles here.”

Each EVlink electric vehicle charger is designed to be as simple to use and operate as possible and can deliver a full charge to any electric vehicle on the road today.

“It’s wonderful to see companies such as the Red Sea Mall being forward-thinking and installing electric charging stations that can be used at no cost by visitors,” said Mowafak AlSaadi, H&D Marketing Division Manager, Schneider Electric Saudi Arabia. “This is the first installation in a mall in the country today, but it won’t be the last. We’re delighted to be able to support the country’s adoption of electric vehicles.”
At Schneider Electric our goal is to help our clients create the right electric vehicle infrastructure, to ensure that their facilities are on the cutting edge of the emerging electric transportation sector.”
