MANILA, 23rd August, 2017 (WAM) -- A 5.1-magnitude earthquake jolted an eastern Philippine province earlier on Wednesday, just over one month after a tremor killed three people in the same area, according to Deutsche Presse-Agentur, DPA.

No damage or casualties were immediately reported after the quake, local officials said.

The quake's epicentre was located north-east of the town of Albuera in Leyte province, 578kilometres south of Manila, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.The last major quake to hit the country was a 7.1-magnitude tremor that killed more than 220 people in the central Philippines in October, 2013.
